What helps me stay motivated?

What makes me play volleyball for eight years and continue improving my skills instead of just spending time there without any clear purpose?

There are a few things that help me stay motivated and disciplined, and I would like to share them.

First of all, it is the love for the sport itself. Sometimes it is intense, difficult, disappointing, and exhausting, but like everything in life, it simply has another side.

Secondly, I would say discipline and the ability to follow your plan regardless of circumstances. Discipline is what keeps you going on the days when you are not motivated. It is important to understand that motivation is not constant: one day you feel motivated, and the next two days you may not feel like doing anything. In those moments, discipline is what supports your progress.

The third important factor is having a goal. Everything you do should have a purpose, as it helps you stay focused and take daily steps toward your objectives. I usually set goals that can be achieved within six months to one year, rather than distant dreams. They need to be realistic and achievable within a clear timeframe.

Another important factor is support. My parents, my boyfriend, my friends, and my environment support me and believe that I can reach my goals. Of course, this is not the most important factor, because first of all, you have to believe in yourself. However, in moments when I start thinking that I am not good enough, that I am not performing well, or that I should quit and live a more ordinary life, these people encourage me to continue. They remind me that it is just a bad day and not a failure. In those moments, I realize that they are right, and I should keep going.
